Prepare Your Pool For Fall

Where did the summer go? It’s true what they say, “time flies when you’re having fun!”. Pools bring so much fun to the summer season, then it’s over before you know it. Now it’s time to start getting your pool ready for cooler weather. We’ve put together a few tips to get you started.

First, you might want to remove all pool accessories such as pool ladders, your floating thermometer and any pool toys and floats. Give everything a good cleaning before storing.

Clean all debris out of your pool. Use your skimmer to remove any leaves, bugs and dirt. If you have a pool vacuum, you may want to run it on the bottom to suck up sunken debris.

Check your chemical levels. It is a good idea to get your chemicals balanced before you close your pool. Monitor your pH, alkalinity and calcium hardness to make sure they are at the correct levels.

Clean your pool filter. If your pool was in full swing this summer, then you will need to give your filter a thorough cleaning. Lower temperatures and falling leaves means your filter needs to be fully functional.

Get a pool cover. To top it all off, a pool cover is essential to protect your pool from cold temperatures.

Taking steps to take care of your pool now to prepare it for cooler weather will ensure your pool is in good shape for the next summer season. We’re hoping these tips will help you. Happy fall to you!
